NY Comic Con: Meeting the Stars Part One

During the first day we all got to meet a lot of people, Steve McNiven, Greg Horn, David Mack, Mark Morales, Talent Caldwell, Greg Rucka, and Mark Brooks. The people we would meet on Day 2 would be even more impressive. So impressive the list needs to be broken in two parts. For me the first person I got to meet was J.G. Jones over at Midtown Comics. It was suppose to be a double header with him and Rucka but Mr.Rucka was running a bit late. While waiting for Jones and Rucka I got see Stan Lee and his posse go by. Stan looked great and his posse looked weak and virgin like. After Jones, me and Shane headed up to the Artist Alley where the brushes with fame would just continue.

~ Diddy

While Diddy and Shane were off doing their stuff, I went straight to the Marvel booth to wait in line for Joe Quesada! Found out from the EIC himself that Elektra has some good stuff coming up, awesome! Missed my chance to meet David Finch so I got in line for Mick Foley, where I caught up with Diddy....

~ Ky!e

When me and Shane got up stairs to the artist alley, I stop quickly to get a print from Greg Horn. I picked up a pretty sweet Captain America print. From there we decided to check out the gaming area. To our surprise there were even more people to meet. Or gawk at. Waiting upstairs was Chewbacca, Gary Coleman, The Cheerleader from Heroes, a couple contestants from "Who Wants to be a Super Hero.", a couple cast members from Buffy and a surprise appearance by G4's Blair Butler. I"m gonna let Shane talk about the scene before I talk about the wonderful Blair Butler.

~ Diddy

Well I saw Hayden from Heroes and I kept asking, "how can she be 16?!". Also everyone's Venti coffee's from Starbucks were making me jealous because I can no longer afford them. Gary Coleman was a scary site. This is where the journey of the AA batteries started because they all of a sudden started to die quite quickly. Derek wanted me to take a picture of the beautiful, yet sassy Blair Butler and the red light was on. I had to take out batteries a lot and keep putting them in when I wanted it to turn on. After this is when the epic of the day started which would later lead to the Marvel team despising Shane O Mac forever.

~Shane

While we drooled over Hayden and wondered what the age of consent was in this state, I noticed that Blair Butler from G4 was there filming for Attack of the Show. When she walked by I told her she was doing a good job on G4. She seemed pretty happy to come across a fan. She went on to film a piece for ATOTS. I wanted to be bold and ask for a picture with her when Shane informed me that his batteries had died in his camera. Luckily he had just enough power to get one more shot off. In between doing shots for the show I asked Blair for a pic and she was nice enough to pose with me for a picture. That pic will be on here very very soon. So after that life altering moment, the quest for the AA batteries was about to begin. Our first stop would be Marvel booth where Shane would meet the lovely Virgina.

NY Comic Con: A Long Cold Trek....

The original plan was to leave around 8:30. Yeah that didn't happen because Kyle was a sleepy head. So we ended up leaving around 9:00 still expecting to get there with no problems. The trek was long, cold and just all around shitty. When we were about a block away when we saw this mass of nerds waiting. We knew we arrived too late as we saw the line wrapping around the convention center and Shane started to cry like a little girl.

~Diddy

So I get up around 7:15 and was tempted to call someone...anyone to see if they were awake on Saturday morning that early. But instead I took a shower, put on yesterdays pants, and put on a pot of coffee. Rasin Bran fueled me as I checked the bus schedule at 7:43 and the bus came at 7:50. So I filled my bag for the day and headed for the bus too the subway and off to Manhattan to meet Diddy and gang at 8:30. We hung around till 9 and I got water straight from Fiji itself and walked in the wind tunnel blowing so hard it put the New Jersey American Idol girl to shame. The line was wrapped two blocks away from the Javits Center. I tired to cut in front of a handicapped woman in a wheel chair because she wasn't moving fast enough to get over the curb, but Derek and Kyle decided it was a no-go. Finally 45 minutes later of line waiting we got in to start the epic journey of the AA Asshole.

~Shane

One thing that Shane decided not to add was that while in line a few friendly stormtrooper and an oversized jawas decided to come up and start busting chops. They came up starting asking for Shane's ID. Acting like any American who's been laid, Shane didn't know the star wars line to reply with. So because he didn't reply with "You don't need to see our IDs" he was then molested for the next 3 minutes while so called straight stormtroopers patted his ass a few more times then they should've. One thing I learned while watching this incident is that just like our armed forces it looks like there's a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy with the Empire.

~Diddy

Looks to me like Diddy & Shane covered most of the morning, except for how darn cold it was. Holding a small hot coffee was torture as my hand somehow started to freeze, so I threw it away. :( We almost got in the con early using Mentos "the fresh maker" as our pass but instead we watched videos of Mentos & diet cola and ate our breakfast: starburst!

~Ky!e

It was a long cold trek and the wait pretty much sucked too. Some of the highlights of the morning were watching people who had to get in line behind us. Watching people who rushed inside to get a special ticket only to realize that they had to go back outside and get back in line again, and talking about Shane being so mad that were outside that he was going to break every window in the convention center with a single punch. Once inside the real fun began.

Day 2 New York Comic Con Day 2

A lot of stuff went on during day 2. So mch it gave the day the status of Epic. Day 2 will be made up of a lot of different post by myself, Shane O Mac, and maybe even Kyle if I can get him away from his new BKV book. So sit back and enjoy the experience. Also once again the pictures are coming after they've been photoshopped.

New York Comic Con Day 1

As I sit here in my hotel room on the morning of day 2 I can only hope that the next two days are as fun as my first. Me and the triad ended up at the convention center around 3. At this point there was already a small line forming outside. We braved the cold air and made fun of a Spider-Man that wasn't going commando under his suit. Finally the doors opened for us little people and Comic Con began. The first thing you see is the DC booth. Once again a great showing by DC. Right away DC had of their artist waiting to meet the masses. Marvel also had a small both and I wont complain about it at all cause I'd rather see them with a small booth instead of no booth at all.
Right away there was a lot going on and you didn't know what you wanted to do first. After we took a lap around the main floor we headed to Artist Alley. Our first brush with greatness came when we met Steve McNiven. We had grabbed some Civil War sketch books from the Marvel booth so we had something for him to sign. We all got a chance to gush and tell him how great Civil War looked. When asked what his next project would be he replied by saying, "Not really sure yet. Me and the guys at Marvel are going sit down and discuss it face to face this weekend."
Next was the Marvel Civil War panel. All the real sites out there are covering it so I"m not going to recap everything. A lot of people were upset that Captain America was crying at the end of Civil War #7 and still didn't feel right about the ending. Joe Q, with the help of Dan Slott, really nailed the ending with their explanation. They pretty much said, "If you were in trouble and some guy in a mask just came up out of nowhere to save with you, wouldn't you feel better if you knew he was a trained professional?". They made a point of explaining that all the registered heroes are now part of the goverment's army. They also announced that The Champions would be getting a relaunch. When asked about Civil War: Fallen Son, Joe Q was very tight lipped and said you would have to read the book. Also when asked about the Joss Whedon ending to Civil War, Joe Q. was about to tell the story but then remembered he couldnt just yet, but would on newsarama.com once the time was right.
After Marvel Shane O Mac had to leave our group but would return for Day 2. The adventure for myself and Kyle continued as we checked out The Darkness demo for Xbow 360, Virtua Fighter 5 for PS3, and a few PC games. I attempted to meet Paul Dini but was denied, which is okay cause I will meet him today. Kyle got to meet Greg Horn, and I ran in to Greg Rucka. As usual Greg Rucka was the coolest guy in the world.
The last event of the day was the DC Nation panel. Once again I wont repeat all the news because newsarama.com will do a better job, but I do want to go over some great moments. The DC Nation panels are always a lot of fun. Nightwing was spared this year and not threaten with death so much. They talked a lot about Countdown and revealed all their teasers. Keith Giffen was the star of the show throwing out one-liners left and right and cracking up the whole place. When asked what the general reaction to the new diversity of culture and races of the new DC heroes, Keith was quick to say, "Well the white folk hate it." Paul Dini also had a great line when asked if he read All-Star Batman and Robin. His reply was, "Yeah I used to read that book when I was a kid." Overall DC was a lot of fun and I cant wait for their next one today.
As far as pictures, they will be coming but not right away. Day 2 should be even more fun with even more going on. As for right now though, the battery in this pc is getting to die and im too lazy to find the AC plug.

You Tube Theater

All Hail the King....

Stan "The Man" Lee....

Know Your History

Ten years ago the geek world was hit with a terrible tragedy. A film franchise that seemed immortal was killed at the hands of one man. The film franchise I speak of is Batman and the man who killed it is Joel Shumacher. Everyone like to throw the name George Clooney around when they talk about the "Death of Batman" but it was really Shumacher that loaded the gun and gleefully opened fire. Batman Forever was the start of it all. With the exception of Commissioner Gordon and Alfred, everyone from the previous Batman movies wouldn't be returning for the third. While the movie has many faults it wasn't the final nail in the coffin. That last nail came in the summer of 1997. Joel Shumacher was on record saying that his vision of a Batman movie resembled that television from the 70's. The movie was campy and silly. The cast was made up of every flavor of the month and Coolio. The movie was so bad that it set back comic books movies another 3 years. It wasn't until movies like X-Men and Spider-Man were able to restore the reputation of the Comic Book Movie. Now we're spoiled and get almost two or three comic book movies a year. Some are good, some are average, and some aren't that great. BUT none of them have been as bad as "Batman & Robin". Has the movie industry learned it's lesson? I wish I could sit here and say that we will never have another "Batman & Robin" but unless we teach those to never forget the sins of Shumacher, the dark ages of comic book movies could return. Think about it. Sam Rami along with the whole cast of Spider-Man is done after this third movie. X-Men 3 was already hit with the curse of a new director and DC actually fired David Goyer from "The Flash" & Joss Whedon from "Wonder Woman". Not to mention the biggest sign of the apocalypse, Nicholas Cage finally got to star in a comic book movie.....and it actually made money. There's a storm coming........

New York Comic Con Countdown

First we have some big news. This is news that hasn't broken on any sites yet. Just added to the New York Comic Con will be the one and only....Shane O Mac. That's right Shane will joining myself and trusty friend Kyle to form a very special Comic Con Triad. What you will find below will be a special News You Already Know: Comic Con Edition.

News You Already Know: NY Comic Con

* DC will be cancelling Green Arrow and re-launching the book as Green Arrow & Black Canary. This will kick off with their upcoming marriage.

* Speaking of DC. It seems that DC loves weekly books. Who can blame them? 52 has been a hit even though it lost steam a few weeks back. So now DC will be starting a new series entitled Countdown. It will start at issue 51 and go down to zero. What the hell are they counting down to? Expect an amazing panel at Comic Con to tease all sorts of plots.

* The Bendis/Mack, Daredevil project that has been teased will end up being announced as Daredevil: The End. This should be a really cool book. I couldn't think of any other team that should bring us Daredevil's last story.

Keep in mind that Cee Diddy Holla will be updating over the weekend, and hopfully with a crap load of pictures.

New York Comic Con Countdown

This Friday I will trek out to New York with my lovely girlfriend and Kyle for the New York Comic Con. Before that can happen though a few things come first. First and foremost I have to work ALL WEEK!!! Wednesday Civil War comes to an end!!! Who dies?? Who cares?? How many new books will be launched?? It's going to be tough but I'm going to try to get some new posts on here as we countdown the time to New York Comic Con. First and off let's check out one last batch of Civil War: Crazy Ass Rumors.....

Civil War Crazy Ass Rumors (Final Edition)

* The Punisher will be making the save before the sharpshooter can kill Aunt May and Mary Jane. The sharpshooter does get one shot off though that puts Mary Jane in a coma that drives Spidey to his black suit.

* Steve Rogers doesn't die in Civil War, but he does turn himself in at the end, but only after beating Iron Man from an inch to his life.

* The Winter Solider takes over for Captain America for a short time as Iron Fist did for Daredevil. He does so with the help of Sharon Carter after she's released by SHEILD.

* Nick Fury dies.

Could any of these true? Yes. Could all of these turn out untrue? Yes. They're called Crazy Ass Rumors for a resaon. Enjoy and post any that you've come across.
